In all of the excitement around launching A Family by Any Other Name in the past few weeks, I forgot to mention that a condensed version of Maya Saibil’s essay appears in the April issue of Toronto Life magazine.
In this version, the piece is called “Knocked Up,” and you can read it here. The essay also got its own cover line (“In Search of Sperm: A Memoir”), which is fantastic.
Condensing a long, involved essay into one-page version is no easy task, but Maya did a great job, and I think it will whet a lot of readers’ appetites to search out the book and read the original version.
And, if you missed it, you can hear Maya speak about her experience as a lesbian mom in this interview with CBC Radio’s Matt Galloway.
